Write your Memoir
with Kim Fuller
A CLIENT STORY
A smart, strong but burdened and confused woman came to me wanting to write her memoir—and wow, did she have a story to tell. One that spanned many years, held deep love and deep loss, and was still very much alive in her body and heart.
She is one of those women who gets sh*t done—but even the strongest among us sometimes need help organizing the swirl.
She wanted clarity, structure and guidance because her story was swirling around in her head. She hired me to help stop the swirl.
Together we had six one-hour sessions with one simple (but not easy) goal: get the story out of her head and into an outline she could actually work with.
When we started, everything felt tangled.
There were emotions she was still carrying.
People she wanted to protect.
A nonprofit she had created to help others through a similar experience.
And a constant question of Where do I even begin?
So we got to work on my signature system. We slowed it all down and gently broke things apart:
Who are you writing this for?
What did this experience teach you that others need to hear?
Who are you in the story—your thoughts, your feelings, your inner world?
Do you want this to be purely your story, or a guide for others walking a similar path?
This was just the beginning.
Together, we created a clear outline with chapter breaks and a meaningful direction for how the book could progress and wrap up.
By the time we finished, her story felt less overwhelming and more held. Clear. Possible.
And in the end, she felt in control, excited and driven to get the book edited and published.
I know many of you are carrying stories like this—stories you want to write, speak, or share—but the emotions, memories, and ideas feel scattered or heavy. If that’s you, you don’t have to do it alone.
If you’re interested in getting a story together, I’d love to support you. We can break down what’s been holding you back and build structure, direction, and space to breathe. Sometimes that even starts with just venting it all out—and that’s okay too. I’m here for all of it.
Story clarity is the first step of: writing a book, creating a talk, laying out a series of articles or blog posts, or simply getting clarity around something you’ve lived through. You can also use clips of your story on social media, in business presentations and in conversation to inspire folks to listen. A great story keeps the attention of the listener!
I’ll continue cheering this client on as she moves forward (and yes, we became friends along the way). I admire her deeply and can’t wait to see her story out in the world.
And maybe… it’s time for yours too. 💛
